How do you plan to manage when you can no longer care for yourself?

What will you do if you have outlived your spouse and have no children?

Or if your children are so overworked with their families and work that they don't have enough time to care for you?
Or if your kids are disabled?
Or if your kids are ice addicts or otherwise unfit as carers?

I'm more concerned who will look after my children after I'm gone.

Honestly, I haven't thought about it.. I probably should.. but I have never been one for planning anything to do with the future.. I guess I always think well why plan when we just don't know what will happen.. I might depart before I reach that stage.. I hope not, of course, but I nearly died a few months ago sooo.

I'll take care of myself until I drop dead. I guess my daughter could help out. She is a nurse practitioner. I hate asking others for help. I have been that way all of my life. It's why I have no friends.

I'll go into some cheap care facility so I can die quickly from malnutrition.

When I can't live independently I'll be ready to go to heaven; that's what I will pray for.

  • At present I live alone. My parents are not too far away and I'm blessed with a loving cousin and his family. But I do think of the future. I did enquire with a senior citizens home if they have an advance reservation policy, and they asked me to wait till I am 58. Their minimum age for admission is 60.       This is about getting your hands on my tilde collection once I'm too feeble to fight you off, isn't it?  You don't even have the decency to wait until I'm dead and my body is cold. For shame, I say, FOR SHAME!  Grrrrrrr.
