We have kelp farmers in New England. They grow them on long lines, along with oysters, mussels and scallops. Quite fascinating.

    - Smile and nod - a lot.
    - Try to maintain eye contact with the speaker, but avoid having a "deer in the headlights" look.
    - Ask simple questions so as to seem interested, but not totally clueless or stupid.

  • It certainly is amazing how many times that I start to answer a question just to find that my ole' buddy Shuhak has already done it for me!  Thanks again, S.  :)

    Mainly listen.
Ask questions when there's something I don't understand.

    May depend on the topic.
If it was something like sport, I'd feel bored, make some excuse, and leave.

Listen and ask questions. If I’m asked a question I openly admit I’m not knowledgeable with the subject. This post was edited by Rizz at September 30, 2018 10:00 AM MDT

Try to learn something.  Most often it is the reserve, they talk about something they know nothing of.  This is where I shine.
