Do you have a song that frequently pops into your head out of nowhere and you keep singing it silently to yourself?

Here's one of mine:  It's Good News Week by the Hedgehoppers Anonymous.  (The video wouldn't transfer.)

    Is this yours?

I have all kinds of random songs pop into my head. However, my song today is "Jane," by Steven Page. I got to see him last night and he opened with it.

That was the theme to my favourite TV show. I've never forgiven the station for axing it.

Yes, that's my song.  I can't listen to yours right now though because everyone else here is watching TV.  Later.

Yes.  You wouldn't know the songs.

They are meditative chants.  I figured since the mind wants to wander anyplace, maybe I can correct this by chanting in my head.

It really is better than screaming inside about Trump or railing at the moon.

Any one of several hundred, my taste is eclectic. Anything from Pachelbel to AC/DC. I'm not always silent about it either,  I'm happy to sing out loud. Right now it's the Scorpions, and I'm whistling

For the last few weeks it been Alison Krauss and John Waite sin'ning " Lay Down Beside Me ".    I just love it and can't get it out of my head....
I sing it so often to who I live with.....it's pure magic and the words are just so wonderful I think....:)

Yes, but it's not any one particular song, there is an entire series or type. Almost on a daily basis, my mind goes back to my days in the Marine Corps to the chants we sang while running in formation, they're known as cadences.
      One example is:

Up in the morning, it was drizzlin' rain,
I packed my trash and headed for the plane
A C-130 rollin' down the strip,

Combat daddy gonna take a little trip
      Mission top-secret, destination unknown,
We don't know if we're ever comin' home
So we jump up, buckle up, shuffle to the door,
Jump right out and shout, "Marine Corps"
And if my 'chute don't open wide,
Well, I've got another one a-by my side
And if that one don't blossom round,
I'll be the first Leatherneck on the ground
Crashin' through the jungle with my M-16,
I'm as stupid as can be, I forgot my magazines
      I'll be a hookin' and a jabbin',
      Stabbin' and a slashin'
      Singing, Lo, right-a-left,
      Lefty-right-a-lo
    .

I've not been in the military -- I'd be a total disaster; friends who are veterans (all Marines) have all told me that, too! Ha! -- but I could see how your chants would be always with you.
    :)
Thanks, as always, for your service.

That's still an admirable choice to try.
It seems to be my HUGE startle reaction that makes so many of my veteran friends laugh at me.

It's always 'Candy's Room' by Bruce Springsteen. The part where he runs his fingers up the strings making a sort of screeching sound.

    No.
Rarely does any song pop into my head; let alone, repeatedly the same song.

I'm more of a "Whatever-I'm-Listening-To-Is-What's-In-My-Head" type of person. And if nothing is actually sounding, I enjoy the silence.

    :)
