I got a new dog. He's a two-year-old lab mix that's energetic and sweet. I like names from mythology, books, movies, etc. Right now, we're running with the name Apollo, but I'm not sold on it. Any ideas?
Dionysus was a great hedonist and lover of fun. Odysseus for a brave adventurer who loves the sea. Jason for his leadership of the Argonauts. Paris for his beauty, beloved of Aphrodite. Kuon Khryseos (the Golden Dog) was a dog sent by Rhea to guard the infant god Zeus and his nurse, the goat Amaltheia, on the island of Krete (Crete). When Zeus reached maturity he placed the dog amongst the stars as the constellation Canis Major.
My brother and sister-in-law had a black lab named "cinder" for the color of the cinders! I wonder if that is where they came up with her name. I'll have to ask them the next time we get together. What a hoot! :) :)
