    I've not heard that particular evolutionary theory up to now. But my own thought is that orgasms are good for us in lots of ways, most of which don't actually have much to do with procreation.

There are degrees and stages of arousal for sure, but physically and mentally it begins with erotic stimulation and ends with sexual release. Wanting that release is just built in to the process.

    But - I also know that its very possible for me to be excited in a positive and non-sexual way, to be alert to everything I sense and feel in a situation, and to reach a stage of euphoria that doesn't attach to anything specifically sexual. I don't think of this as " arousal" though. For me its really a different thing.  less
