I know I am but please don't tell any of my cannabis competitors because they might figure that I am getting soft and start thinking they can punk me. Cheers!

      Nope. (Just being truthful.)

Grumpy old man! Maybe retirement isn't suiting you well?

Nothing of the kind. I’ve only been retired for a few months now. My answer to your question encompasses the past couple of decades of aging, during which time I haven’t changed very much in the areas of kindness and gentleness, either more kind and gentle or less kind and gentle.

The older I get, the fewer f**ks I have to give.

The fewer f*"cks you're forced to give. This post was edited by CosmicWunderkind at September 29, 2020 6:28 PM MDT

    I guess I get that.

I don't give nearly as many f*cks as I used to, but I still think I am generally more forgiving of people than I used to be. I'm sure that I'm not less generous than I've been in the past.

I think I'm thinking of different kinds of f*cks. I'm far less concerned about what other people think of me than I have been in the past, and I don't try to draw attention to my own kindnesses/good deeds. Yet, I believe I have more compassion for others than I used to and try to keep myself and my own feelings and needs on the back burner much more than I used to.

If that makes no sense, I get it. I'm confused by it myself. :)

I think 'more considerate' would cover it in my case.

That's great! I think I am more compassionate and empathetic than I used to be, but I've lost patience for certain things.

Not at all, I've always been kind and gentle.

Slower and more tired. I also no longer have to be the "responsible parent", I spoil my grandchildren scandalously.

    Haha! I feel you!

No one is calling me Grandma-ma yet, but I still have hopes! :)

Grumpy is their favourite superhero. I never have to be the "bad guy", discipline is Daddy's problem.

  • Yes I do feel like a friendlier person than I was 15 years ago.  A lot of it having to do with my mind potentially outgrowing some social dysfunction. Plus some much needed patience with my fellow human. It took me a long time to learn that we're not perfect and we never will be.

It's amazing how we can evolve (or devolve, for that matter), isn't it?

I really noticed the change in myself when I found myself thinking forgivingly about my ex-husband and embracing my own mistakes and flaws within that relationship. A few years ago, I wouldn't have ever seen that happening.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Funniest thing EVER!!!

I'm very happy to have a polite, virtually non-existent relationship with my ex-husband.

That’s a good outlook for you to have; it leaves more room for me to put the moves on you. No pesky ex-husbandlike encumbrances.

I think there might be a curve. Like, we're born 100% selfish a-holes by necessity and most of us remain much that way for a good 15-30 years, depending on the person. Hopefully this lessens a bit by the time we're parents and partners, and might peak when we're mid-life and then we start to revert back to our more selfish, less kind and gentle selves as things begin to wind down?

    Just a theory.
    Thanks.
