Well, my current one isn't exactly a barrel of laughs. But I think the worst was when I, as a favour to a friend, went to work in a greasy spoon cafe. It was ok when we were busy but when it was quiet, it was sheer torture. Watching that clock when every minute seemed to last an eternity, wasn't nice. I liked the money, but to be fair, I usually felt so sorry for myself by the time I got paid that I'd tend to blow the lot in one go.

I can honestly say that I've never had a worse job or a bad one for that matter. I was always happy, thankful, and felt blessed to have a job that I could go to and make money to support my family and to give back to society. I would strive to do the best that I could and to make friends along the way. :)

Door-to-door salesman. When people weren't buying, I didn't get paid.

My entry job at the company from which I eventually retired was in a horrible production office that was run like the military. Transfers were allowed after six months and I asked for and received a promotion to an  executive office in company headquarters.  That was the beginning of several moves until I eventually moved into the job I was in the longest and loved which was in the regulatory/legal department.

  • Fast food cook, A&W. It was hard work, the pay was awful, the kitchen was hot, the floor was slippery, I came home everyday with my clothes smelling like fryer grease, and my hands smelled like onion even after showering and washing my hands repeatedly.

Farm labor. A local farmer came and talked my dad into hiring me out for a month for 90 bucks. Should have been $150. Up at 6am to milk 12 cows then work all day baling hay or whatever other hard labor needed to be done then evening milking time, supper then continuing work till dusk. One Sunday off every second week.

The job where my boss was a sexual predator and harassed me every day for the six months I was there.  The only reason I stayed that long was because I knew it would be difficult to explain on my resume why my tenure was so short.  Fortunately, the secretarial supervisor for the job I had before that one said she would cover those six months as though I had remained at work at the old job.
