Never. Only times I wore a tie was when I was in the Navy when the Ministry of Defense decided to make us wear a green tri-service uniform that made us Navy people look like Air Force personnel.

I wore a tie to my mother's funeral. I even wore shoes. (For the first time in six years.)

I haven't worn a noose since my parents 50th anniversary.  I so hate those things.  I had a job once where I was required to wear a tie.  That thing made me feel like I was being strangled.

IMO a man has to be bonkers to wear a tie that goes around the neck. It is a handle for drunks to grab you. I used to buy clip-ons at Salvation Army so I could put Christmas ties on the clips.

That is a fun project. You straighten a coat hanger and use it to turn the tie inside out. Then you cut a section out of the middle, sew it together, turn it right side out and wrap it around the clip. That is how I got a Christian Dior clip-on tie.

Nobody can tell you are wearing a clip-on without digging under your collar to look.

Weddings and funerals. I last wore one on my first day in my current job. I soon discovered that despite being an office environment, the dress code is pretty relaxed.
