Not fancy. Very simple. A justice of the peace officiated and in attendance were my husband's girls, one of his employees, one of my friends and, representing my family, my niece Cheryl and her husband. My husband's mother didn't like me at the time so didn't show up. After the ceremony we all went to a restaurant for dinner. Of course we were older but that was really just the kind of wedding I wanted to have. Not a lot of fuss.
We did ours on a shoestring. Her mum made the dresses, it was at the local Catholic church, the parish priest and minister from her church co-officiated, reception was in the church hall catered by a local hash joint. We had to arrange it hastily - my bride was pregnant.
I wore my USAF uniform because I didn't own a suit. There were flowers in the church because someone else had a ceremony before ours. We only spent a hundred bux on everything. We had to because her folks refused to pay for it. (We invited them to the wedding anyway.) One wedding gift was a check for a hundred bux, so it ended up costing us nothing.
Formal but not huge. I have never liked spectacles. I had one attendant. There were 150 guests. The Church was full of daisies much to my mother's disappointment........she is a white rose kind of gal. My husband and I were going to simply go to Mississippi and marry. At that time it was the nearest state with no waiting period after getting a license. My mother begged us not to. So, she got to have her show and I had my daisies. And I married the person I said I would the night I met him two years prior.
