What's one of the weirdest things you have done? Or even just a weird thing?

I was reminded today of something pretty strange I did .....

Twas a long hot summer, I had a company about 20 miles away donate their time and resources by driving up here with several milk tankers full of water... It was probably not that environmentally friendly really... and they didn't really get much thanks for it as the parish council didn't want any publicity regarding it... but it was the pond I cared about and I was worried about the fish dying..

When I think back I still don't know how I managed to persuade the owner of the company to do that.. they had to flush their tankers out so they could carry the water..

I can be persuasive when I try :P

I just finished playing animal videos from youtube on my computer for my dog to watch. I've got a feeling that most people might find that weird.

    She loved it, though. :)

Thanks for trying to save the pond dwellers! :)

Seems perfectly normal to me, but then again I have 'cat' games on my tablet to amuse the kitties :P

In 1985 I managed to get about 150 people to write notes (mostly some school kids) then I took these 'messages' to St. John's Newfoundland and sealed them in whiskey bottles  (which I purchased from the Liquor Commission people) and found a fishermen guy to take me offshore far out enough then dropped the bottles into the ocean.  Within a year 9 of the message senders got back replies from people who had found the bottles washed up on shore.

Why do you think that is weird?

Five years ago, I made a naked snow angel on our rear deck.

  • Before I retired, I hopped into the mail cart in our office mail room and had one of the clerks push me up and down the aisles.

I deleted my comment, just didn't like seeing what I wrote. Why three comments got deleted -- two of mine and another from another answerMugger -- I don't know. I only meant to delete one of mine. But maybe it was because I deleted my first comment and the following two posts went with it; that makes sense.

I read them before they disappeared, and it reminded me to mention that last year's film, Chappaquiddick, gave an excellent account of what happened. Ted was (perhaps obviously) drinking that night and he drove too fast along a wooded, unlit road toward the bridge, which had neither lights nor guardrails. And not to excuse him, but he was still in a bad personal funk just 13 months after Bobby's assassination.

  • Oh no worries.  As I mentioned in PM, I wasn't offended at all.       I will say that Ted knew that bridge, knew that area very well, and I don't believe that even allegedly intoxicated and driving at night impeded his vision.  Other things played a part, which I am not comfortable talking about.     His waiting until the next day before choosing to notify authorities speaks volumes even if I didn't know what I know.

No details necessary, but was something going on between Ted and Mary Jo? Certainly the Kennedys could not have tolerated public knowledge of such a thing.

  • Some people believed there was.  Unfortunately at that time I wasn't comfortable enough to ask more questions, and those particular individuals are no longer living.

Years ago I was with a man who worked for Kennedy playing music for his private parties. This would have been seven or eight years after that incident which I don't know much about.  But he told me that Kennedy would always be trying to chat up whatever girls he had invited there including sometimes even the band singer.

Which really doesn't mean anything in and of itself and sheds no light on what may or may not have happened at Chappaquiddick.
