But they never forget. It doesn't go away. It is always part of whom they are. It is a fact of life that women have to deal with and they don't all deal with it in the same way. Some try to forget it. Some go into analysis. Some never trust men again so their relationships are often very difficult and short-term. Everyone is permanently damaged by it.
