Certainly, of various kinds, but my preference and proficiency is with long-barelled guns - nail the bastard before he even realises you are there - cunningly hidden with him firmly in your sights. Can there be many males who have NEVER handled a firearm - even at a fairground shooting gallery?
I have fired a rifle at a range many, many years ago. Can't say I was particularly intrigued by the experience and came away with a sore right shoulder.
I started to say "Hasn't everybody?" but of course the answer is "No, not everybody." When I was a kid, almost everybody fired a weapon of some sort at some time, and in the military it was all without exception. My brother and his pals used to hike outside of town and shoot a rabbit now and then. Almost every high school had a rifle club in those days, and students would all carry their rifles to school for club meetings. It is a different universe now. Everybody has gone bonkers. My niece posted a video on Facebook showing preparations at the local school to protect the students from shooters. It was identical to the "duck and cover" flicks made for nuclear bombs, except the kids held books in front of their faces instead of cowering under their desks.
AND SHE THOUGHT I WAS SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE I SAID HOW DUM I THOUGHT IT WAS.
I used to own a .22, hunted rabbits, feral cats and foxes in my late teens and early twenties. I surrendered it after Port Arthur, I hardly ever hunted by then anyway. I've also potted Indian Mynahs with an air rifle, and one enormous feral cat with a shotgun.
