An isolated gust of wind grabbed two sections of plastic lattice from my patio roof (chimes and all) and flung them across my house roof.  One landed in the front yard, the other smashed into my chimney (probably because it was weighed down with the chimes).

I thought the strong wind would blow her dress up, but instead, it just wrapped it tightly around her hips and legs. I was betrayed. Grrrrr.

    On the Golden Gate bridge
in San Francisco, Driving a Volkswagen Van.
Was in the far right lane, and a gust of wind
blew me into the left lane. Totally petrified,
I had no control of what had just happened.
    Really scary.

The flat sides on a Kombi made them hard to control in a crosswind.

Well at least you weren't in a Russian built Lada Rive they are pieces of junk so you would of been blown over the edge. I love VW vans but we call them Micro Buses in Canada. Cheers!

  • We've had storm doors blown off in strong winds ... and tree limbs falling on our roof causing a lot of damage.

Once I bought a couple 3 foot cactus on a windy day and getting them to the car was really annoying and painful. No matter how I tried to carry them the wind would push them into my body plus break of pieces off cactus that I had to gather up so I had 2 big cactus to carry plus a bunch of pieces (I was going to try and get them  to root). I even tried putting one cactus on the ground and push it along with my foot but the wing kept blowing it into my leg. I almost had a hissy fit because it got to be so annoying but eventually  I got them to the car. Cheers! This post was edited by Nanoose at April 30, 2019 7:53 AM MDT

That strong gust was Hurricane Andrew.  It destroyed the lives of many of my neighbors and left us without air conditioning in the August summer heat.  For weeks.

My cousin built a new house. So he wanted a beautiful lawn for it. It was my assignment to put down grass seed and cover it with straw.  After doing a nice job, the rain came, which was good to get it growing. Then the winds came and blew all the seed and straw into a nearby field.

Other than having those sandwiches blown away, I'm trying to figure out what the negative aspects are, but I can't see any.  Priorities, Woman!  Please focus.

If you've never had paper plates, napkins, tablecloths and anything else light enough be blown away during a picnic you are lucky.    Or maybe you aren't the picnicing kind.

Great Storm of 1987, hurricane force winds, trees fell on top of our stables, thankfully none of the horses were harmed, but when we arrived the place was a mess, and horses running free and frightened.

Gust of wind? Dress blew up showing my undies.

Anyone know where Element 99 is, haven't seen him on here for a while?

While eating dinner in my lawn chair on the beach, a gust of wind blew my napkin out if my hand and onto the sand behind me.  My wife asked if I was going to go pick it up.  I said, yes I would try but I knew that as soon as I got close to it the wind would blow it beyond hope of catching it.  So, I got up and lo, the paper napkin did not move as I walked right up to it.  Thinking I would succeed in my mission, I bent over and my hand was within one inch of grabbing the little bugger, when the lightest, isolated puff of wind blew the napkin just out of reach.  I think both incidents were caused by the same gust which has circled around for a second laugh.
I was also in Hurricanes Jean and Frances in 2004.  That wasn't so funny. This post was edited by CallMeIshmael at April 30, 2019 7:55 AM MDT

The wind caught my car door closed as I was opening it and it squished my fingers. Nothing broken.
