You see them on TV repeatedly supporting his lies and verifying them as the truth because he said so! Some are better at it than others though they all stumble at times from the gall buildup in their throats. They can only control the words they use and not their body's reaction to them.

Past truths are distant and because of that they don't involve as much emotion. Future "presumed" truths are only opinions and not fact. So we have differences of opinion which is fine. It's when we have differences in our perceptions of truth that causes problems.
