Dems could be exactly the same. They either died off or are now underground and fear for their political lives if not their lives period. Dare to step out of the box? Dare to step over the line? Typical human activity. Typical politicians do that 24/7. The atypical are responsible and accountable and honest and NEVER blame others for what they've done. They will justify and rationalize and defend the very worst among us because it suits them and/or they can identify with them. Few are exceptional, extraordinary, memorable. SIGH. Why?
