Do they not listen and realize that the glib are often spouting gibberish? Why? Maybe gibberish is hypnotizing/mesmerizing/seductive. It deadens the mind to everything. The bell rings, the dog salivates because in prior similar situations food came after the bell so it "knows" food is coming even though it often doesn't. Once the reflex action is set in motion everything else is automatic.. The glib starts, the mind tunes out and the audience starts salivating. less

So when apparent "grownups" have hissy fits and rant and rave hysterically it's just your average two-year-old having another tantrum. We expect way too much of them. They need to be branded or labeled to differentiate them from actual adults. A humane way. Painless. Someplace the brand will always show though. We need to know what we are dealing with and a covering up of the brand would be a grave disservice to them.

Don't know how those book clubs would compare to New York's Algonquin but do you know of any groups who get together to discuss IDEAS that are neither politically nor religiously motivated currently? Thinking just for the sake of thinking and then sharing those thoughts with others in a civil, cordial, thoughtful way day by day by day by day? Are internet social sites on that level? Could they be if the participants so chose? less
