I am an adult yet have been abused into adulthood as wel... moreI've asked this before yet am still in a dilemma. I hope to move out soon of a home which is abusive and chaotic (parents). I am an adult yet have been abused into adulthood as well (emotional and physical). When I can move past my anxiety and can have my own place I wonder whether to stay in contact with my father- he has been hot and cold with me my whole life, defended my ill abusive mother, and physically assaulted me last year. The only thing is, I will have no other person in my family (or friends) to help me financially if ever needed. Do I still have him somewhat in my life here /there, or cut him out completely yet having no one for any extra aid. I know in order to heal I NEED to cut him out even for a bit, but it is daunting to have no one in life to be there for you ... any similar experience welcome. less

It has helped me to ease my mind a bit, as I've never dated, and I'm very grateful to ppl of AM for their open thoughts on how a guy should be ok with any abuse I've had in my past ( a lot, as in nearly my whole life). Yet I still find my mind thinking , you have anxiety about many things, who would want to BE or stay with you? I wonder if anyone here has had anxiety affect their life, particularly with dating or love, and how you maybe changed your subconscious to believing you were somehow Ok and a match for someone? less

Also that I feel i'd GET anxiety while out too :/ I'm trying so hard to overcome this b/c I know I'm good , kind, loving, yet my subconscious CLINGS to that fear when a guy asks me out ... would it be fine or hav eyou ever dated JUST for that night of relaxation or fun? Not having to put pressure on things or yourself to 'be' something or have it 'go ' somewhere.. I think I get very stuck in that; and I just want something fun.. but is anyone out there NOT searching for a soul mate, or serious relationship? less
