Not on the wedding but at the reception, I had *horrible* gas and it was debilitating, and that caused my whole family to have to care for me and I sort of slightly ruined the reception for my family :P Was when I was 12 or younger I think.

I love myself enough to not hurt myself, or put myself in harm's way unnecessarily (except with my Tesla Coil stuff ahahaha--even then I took precautions... sadly I had to cut the project partway through due to it failing numerous times). I am an astronomy/math major. There isn't a thing I don't love about space! And haha some people simply aren't cut out for the theoretics :) One of my favorites is confusing people with compressing the mass of the sun into black-hole density. Aside from the lack of radiation, most people immediately start thinking that the earth will be yanked out of its orbit without realizing that the gravitational pull will be exactly the same and as such would stay pretty much on the same orbit :P Fascinating stuff. What's your opinion on the multiverse theory and string theory?  less

I got genuinely depressed (that reminds me to take my meds) when EP shut down because a part of my life that was so dear to me was shut down. I didn't initially plan to be EP famous. It just... happened. I became that obnoxious space nerd that everyone either loved because I provided some actual intellectual discourse, or hated because they were anti-intellectual. Seeing that my mere presence would cause discussion was really interesting. I've had one-a-many intellectual conversations on there, and it was an ego boost from both the "I'm surrounded by idiots" and "My intelligence is actually respected" perspectives.

  • More facts time! Did you know that there's an actual clinical term called the Tetris Effect and it involves human behavior?

I just found this really cool because the Tetris Effect occurs t...  moreI just found this really cool because the Tetris Effect occurs to me for its namesake. The Tetris Effect occurs when you do something so much for so long, that you start seeing it, feeling it, and dreaming about it elsewhere. It also includes that wobbly-legged feeling you get after getting off of a boat. It comes from the fact that the effect is especially true for Tetris players. We play it for so long that we start seeing blocks everywhere--mentally playing the game on grids, seeing them fall down on skylines... we hallucinate blocks everywhere. We sometimes even dream of Tetris. That's why it's called the Tetris Effect. I just thought it was really cool that this principle I've been fascinated by for so long is called the Tetris effect, and I'm obsessed with Tetris :)

In essence it's marginally more intellectual than most other anime out there. And it's hilarious.

  • Just so you know, the DnD dice have names other than d4, d6, d8, d12, and d20.

A Platonic Solid is a figure with all of its faces being the same, all its edges being the same length, and all of its angles being the same. There are only five platonic solids in 3 dimensions. The dodecahedron is my favorite! It has pentagonal faces, which I find really interesting. Math! <3

I'm pretty sure they copyrighted it, but if the name is changed and whatnot, they're able to use it? I wonder if AnswerMug would look into if it's possible to create a Tetris clone so that Muggers could play it. Not sure if they could go so far as to do the multiplayer version, but if NullpoMino can get away with being a Tetris clone, then AnswerMug should be able to get away with having a Tetris clone too I guess. Not sure. But worth checking out. It's such a classic.

It knocked some leaves off of trees, but other than that there was nothing more to it. No flooding, not much damage, nothing. Amazing what a stark difference 30-40 miles can make in a hurricane.

I developed a position as being one of the site's most trustworthy and helpful members, and everyone on there who wasn't brand new knew me, and soon they knew me too. I may become comfortable here, but I'll never be as I was on EP.

  • Some random facts about the International Space Station--the actual thing, not me.

Just some numerical facts about it. It orbits at an inclination ...  moreJust some numerical facts about it. It orbits at an inclination of 51.6 degrees. That means that if you're in between 51.6 degrees north and south, it is possible for you to see it directly above you. 200km (124mi) more and you'll be able to see it, just not directly above you. Close to the poles, it's impossible to see it. It makes an orbit once every 92 minutes. You can easily see it passing above you with your naked eye if you know where and when to look. Use heavens-above.com or Spot The Station to find out where it is in your sky! Heavens-Above is for the more astronomically inclined. Spot The Station is for the generic population. It orbits at a height of 400km (249mi), with a slightly elliptical orbit, with the major diameter being 406km(252mi). It orbits at 7.66km/s (4.76mi/s) which is really fast. If you played the song that goes "Well I would walk five hundred miles and I would walk five hundred more," which is 3.5 minutes, the ISS will have actually traveled just about exactly 1000 miles.   less

I'm not sure if anyone remembers me--either as the ISS, MathematicallyMindedFractal, or just plain "Fractal," but I remember a lot of you guys and ever since EP shut down I've been really sad because now I have nowhere to really post my rambling, and I built up so much of my memories on EP. I forget where EP 2.0 is supposed to be, but I wish I could get in touch with my old EP friends, especially BlueMetalChick. I miss her so much. If anyone from EP uses this, please tell me so that I can feel as though this website sort of replaces EP.   less

  • What are your politics?
    Posted October 9, 2016
In terms of how left or right-winged you are.

    Before you ask:
    1. Parties are given as an example, not as the option itself. Please select how left- or right-winged you are.
    2. Libertarian refers to Libertarian Capitalist, i.e. the libertarian party.
    3. Democrats are NOT Left winged.
    4. Liberals are *slightly* lefter than Democrats, but are still capitalists.
    5. Hillary may call herself progressive, but she is extremely right-winged. Please click "Very Right-Winged" if you are for Hillary.
    6. Bernie is NOT a "Democratic Socialist." He is a Social Democrat, which is on the soft-left.
    7. Green Party refers to the AMERICAN Green Party.
    8. Socialism and Communism are extremely similar, but I needed to split the options for very and radically.
    9. Very/Radically Left-Winged refer to all tendencies of such, including authoritarian (Stalinist) and anarchist versions. Please note that communism is inherently anarchist in nature.
    10. Very/Radically Right-Winged refer to all tendencies of such, including authoritarian (Fascist) and "anarchist" versions. Please note that capitalism is inherently fascist in nature.
