Aren't recusals meant to be for the life of whatever the person recused him/herself from? A judge recuses from a case. A lawyer recuses from a client. An attorney general recuses himself from involvement in something in which he was involved himself early on. That seems very fair to me. I don't understand why Giuliani said what he did. Doesn't he know better?

Is it curable or does one just have to manage it/live with it? I wonder if the erratic quixotic dramatic reactions of some are due to such early childhood trauma? A distinct break from reality. They already lived in the neighborhood when you arrived. Other than being on a first-name basis and saying hello to each other on passing, you only occasionally socialize with them both or visit each other's houses.  You are closer to the spouse who is of your gender, and the two of you often make small talk.   One day about three months ago, you happened to notice that one of them, either the husband or the wife, receives a visitor of the opposite gender without the presence of the other spouse. Just seeing it in passing means nothing, but over the next few weeks, it continues to occur: the exact same visitor stops by about once every week, and never when the other spouse is home. Now that it's become more noticeable to you, it catches your eye even more every time it happens.   Gradually, the visits increase in...    less
