That is not the only similarity. I am not saying that all American righties support all of these views, but the following are common among them.
They support the death penalty, outlawed in every other Western/developed country, if they are not executing you, they support locking you up for an extremely long sentence. Prior to that I had gone to him and told him what he says to me sometimes hurts my feelings and his response was that they're only words. I had to build up the courage because I had never stood up to him before. But the time came when he called me a name and I went right up to him and said the same thing back to him. I'll never forget the look of shock on his face and before I left, I turned to him and said, oh come on now, they're only words, aren't they. Even though I was shaking like a leaf, I'll never forget that feeling I had when I finally stood up to him. I didn't think it would feel so powerful to have that weight lifted off my shoulder. So I used my acting skills to pretend I was scared and also that I was gay and also a bit of a drama queen. The guy still insisted that I give him my money so I said - well honey I don't have any money but if you want to get lucky - then I glanced over at some bushes. When the guy turned his head to look at the bushes I clocked him in the side of his head with the 6 pack of Lucky lager in the plastic bag and when he stopped crying I told him he's lucky it wasn't a 12 pack.
