Suffering from pancreatic cancer, Alex Trebek knew for months that it was terminal, and he was in a lot of pain, yet chose to keep working on the show as much as he could. Just two weeks prior to his death, he pre-recorded enough episodes to last until the end of December 2020. It is those pre-recorded episodes that are airing now. This couple was already planning to leave their jobs, invest their savings in this thing and become full-time evangelists for the company. It seemed like a Ponzi scheme to us, so we declined. A few years later, the company was featured on a news program as part of a nationwide scandal that had wiped out the savings of hundreds of people. The owners (not the couple who had known us) had skipped the country and Interpol warrants were out for their arrests. We certainly dodged that bullet!
