Suffering from pancreatic cancer, Alex Trebek knew for months that it was terminal, and he was in a lot of pain, yet chose to keep working on the show as much as he could. Just two weeks prior to his death, he pre-recorded enough episodes to last until the end of December 2020. It is those pre-recorded episodes that are airing now.
