First were the loggers of the Pacific raincoast, where I grew up.For example when the steam donkey dragged the tree across rough ground – can get hung up…extremely dangerous, lives often lost when it broke loose. It was the job of the hooktender to curse so profoundly the log had no choice but to release safely.
Second, among African-Americans in the San Francisco ghettos…at least in the 1960’s, Black English so utterly profane as to be beautiful; sometimes even lapsing into rhyme…
* * *I don’t know if there is a connection, but both of these…developed where people’s lives were at risk, African-Americans just arrived from the Deep South then.

Oh sillies.

It seems to be how we are.. Well I am for sure, my kids are.. I joke non-stop.. I tease, I, well play with words.. A tutor at work once said of me, that I would still be joking and smiling if the world ended.. SHe meant it nicely :P In my course, one of my biggest problems is that I am always joking, I find it hard to take things seriously and it's a SERIOUS course.. Much, and I mean most, of my humour is self-deprecating.. well if ya can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at! SO I put myself down a lot.. it makes people laugh, it puts people at ease.. and that's pretty much always worked pretty well for me.. (well except for the course as I mentioned where when asked on the beginners course why I was there, I joked, *because it's free* -made them laugh but I was putting myself down somewhat as I am there because I have a genuine des... less

It has been happening since Trump took office and continues relentlessly. The White House Visitor's site created by Obama so that journalists could track what lobbyists do vis a vis lobbying pols in Washington is GONE. The Department of Agriculture animal cruelty data has been removed. Trump suspended a regulation protecting whistle blowers who worked for the Department of Energy contractors.
