He was convicted and jailed in India from 1976 to 1997. After his release, he retired, promoting his infamy in Paris. Sobhraj returned to Nepal in 2003, where he was arrested and tried and received a life sentence. On 21 December 2022, the Supreme Court of Nepal ordered his release from prison because of his old age, after he had served 19 of the 20 year sentence. On 23 December, he was released and deported to France. less

When I was about 16 or 17 years old, during the summer break, a girl from my class showed an interest in me. She lived a few blocks away and would ride over to my house on her bicycle and invite me to go riding with her. I can’t remember how many times we went riding, maybe only two or three. But the curious thing was that whenever she was waiting for me on the front porch to go get my bicycle from the garage or the house, wherever I kept it, I can’t really remember, my mother would call me from inside the house to do some insignificant chores, such as the kitchen floor needs to be swept or throw out the garbage or go upstairs and do something. My mother would interrupt me at least two or three times just as we were ready to take off on our bikes. Every time I finished one task, she called me again. The girl eve... less

The newsletter was similar to the Stars and Stripes newspaper in many ways, except that instead of being a daily publication, it was either monthly, bi-monthly, or weekly (it’s been way too long; I can’t remember for sure). Another feature that distinguished it from Stars and Stripes was its letters section, or commentary section. Many writers extolled the virtues of their particular branches of service in comparison with the other branches, and staunch opinions that launched arguments were the order of the day. The next day he made the announcement and it was that he will be selling Super Hero trading cards of himself. I thought the card was hilarious because he would need a Super Duper girdle to make his body look like it does on the trading card. Cheers!
